John Tinney (died 1761), publisher, engraver and printseller, was the son of a member of the Merchant Taylor’s Company. For seven years he was apprenticed to the engraver John Stuart. Tinney established his own print shop in Fleet Street from the 1730s, where he sold a range of items, including imported French prints, prints after his own works, maps and drawing books.
