(1805 - 1882)

George Frederick Prosser painted numerous views of the area in and around Winchester, in Hampshire (between 1840 and 1876), and the area around Eton and Windsor, in Berkshire (between 1863 and 1877). He also produced watercolour views of Guildford in Surrey and Maidenhead in Berkshire. In addition, architectural drawings by Prosser are held at Guildford Library. Prosser’s drawings and accompanying texts were published as ‘Select Illustrations of the County of Surrey’ (1828), ‘Select Illustrations of Hampshire: Comprising Picturesque Views of the Seats of the Nobility & Gentry, Lodge Entrances & c.’ (1833), ‘Scenic and Antiquarian Features… of Guildford’ (1840) and ‘The Antiquaries of Hampshire’ (1842).
