Storytelling, or more specifically allegory, plays a significant role in the artist’s work. In Lewis’s own words, ‘squeezing a cultural signifier through the lens of another class or dialect creates an opportunity for new meaning’. His mother tongue Cymraeg/Welsh haunts his second language creating, as he describes of this work, ‘a nonsensical world where cultural signs lose their meanings and gain new ones, where a new age elixir for longevity gets lost in translation and becomes a catching-up session with the ghost of the artist’s mother’.
