Claire Barclay was born in Paisley, Scotland. She lives and works in Glasgow. She studied at Glasgow School of Art, graduating in 1993. Her work has been exhibited throughout Europe and Australia. Her solo exhibitions include Homemaking, Moderna Museet, Stockholm (2000); Some reddish work done at night, Doggerfisher, Edinburgh (2002), and Ideal Pursuits, Dundee Contemporary Arts (2003). Barclay also contributed to Zenomap at the Venice Biennale of Art (2003). In 2006 she was commissioned for the British Art Show 6 in Bristol and in 2007 she had an exhibition in Braunschweig, Germany. In 2008 she has a major solo exhibition at the Camden Arts Centre.
