About the work
Seven luminescent rectangular forms are assembled in this wall-based work by David Batchelor. Although one colour, its layering effect creates a sensation of light and dark forms receding and emerging simultaneously. Batchelor is fascinated with the sensory and emotive effects of colour, especially those created from modern materials and dyes. He works with various found objects, from fluorescent and neon lights, to household paints and modified commercial ready-mades, like warehouse dollies and steel shelving.
