Known for her flower and landscape paintings, Patricia Ramsay was born Lady Victoria Patricia Helena Elizabeth Ramsay in 1886. She was the daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Connaught and Strathearn, and the grand-daughter of Queen Victoria. In 1919 she married Admiral The Hon. Sir Alexander Ramsay, at which time, by Royal permission, she renounced the titles of ‘HRH’ and ‘Princess’. Ramsay was elected a member of several art societies including the New English Art Club and the Royal Watercolour Society. She exhibited in London at the Royal Academy, Fine Art Society and Goupil Gallery. Although she travelled and worked for a period in Sri Lanka and the Bermudas, she lived at both Windlesham in Surrey and Clarence House, London.
