The son of painter and sculptor George Washington Thomas Lambert and brother of composer and conductor Constant Lambert, Maurice was a successful sculptor. His first one-man exhibition was at the Claridge Gallery, London, in 1927. Throughout the 1930s he carried out commissions for ocean liners. From 1950 to 1958 he was a master at the Royal Academy Sculpture School, becoming a full Royal Academician in 1952. Lambert continued to receive commissions until his death in 1964.
