Explore: John Fulleylove

(1847 - 1908)

John Fulleylove was born in Leicester and was apprenticed to an architect. His talent for illustration and design led him to travel widely in Europe and the near East, illustrating books on subjects as diverse as the Holy Land, Greece and Oxford. He exhibited his watercolours in London from 1871 and became a member of the Royal Watercolour Society for a short time. Various exhibitions of his work were held at the Fine Art Society, including ‘Greek Views’ in 1896 and ‘Views of the Holy Land’ in 1902. The influence of his friend and more famous contemporary Thomas Collier can occasionally be seen in his work.
