Lynn Bushell was born in East Anglia and studied art history and philosophy at Edinburgh University, before going on to study fine art at Edinburgh College of Art. She lectured at universities in London, and in 1985 published a novel entitled 'The Glass House'. Since 1993 Bushell has lived for part of each year in France where she regularly exhibits her work. Solo exhibitions of her work have been held in London galleries including Roy Miles Fine Art and The Rotunda Gallery in Hampstead. She has taught at Hornsey College of Art; Middlesex University; and since 1990, with the Open University. Bushell also writes for British newspapers and periodicals such as The Guardian, The Observer and Art Review, and was previously Features Editor for Vanity Fair magazine.
