John Melchior Barralet was a painter of landscapes in watercolour and a drawing master from Dublin. He was the younger brother of watercolourist John James Barralet (1747-1815). He may have attended the Dublin Society Schools before moving to London in 1774. He exhibited one work at the Free Society, nine at the Society of Artists and nine at the Royal Academy between 1774 and 1787. He lived at several addresses in central London, followed by an address in Vauxhall and, by 1883, at Clapham Common, South London. His exhibited works were mostly drawings and watercolours. They included views of London, particularly South London, views in Surrey and two portraits: one depicting ‘a lady’ and another of ‘an artist’. His dates are as yet unknown.
