  • About the artist
Barbara Robinson was born in London in 1928. Daughter of Major William Lloyd Jones, Senior Captain of Invalids, she grew up living at the Royal Hospital, Chelsea, the retirement residence for soldiers. At 15, she began studies at the Slade School of Art. In 1946 she married George Walter Robinson (died 1981) who was later a lecturer in Japanese History in London. In the mid 1950s the couple lived in Japan which proved to be influential on Barbara’s work. In 1957 they moved to Vic-le-Fesq in Provence, France where Barbara has lived ever since. She has enjoyed a successful artistic career, with her work purchased by public and private alike. In 2008 she was awarded the Medal of the French National Assembly.
