Raven Feather from the Tower of London
About the work
Cornelia Parker's "Raven Feather from the Tower of London" is a beautiful image in itself and points to wider concepts of time and place. The ragged feather was taken from one of the famous ravens of the Tower of London, a place steeped in history. Its strong association with the Tower is emphasised by Parker as a way of directing our attention beyond its appearance, to the wider history of the Tower and the events that happened there. "Sometimes I find the tiniest bit of information the most evocative," she commented in an interview for her exhibition at the Serpentine Gallery in 1998.
