Cornelia Parker's "Feather from Freud's Pillow" is a beautiful image in itself and points to wider concepts of time and place. It was taken from the psychoanalyst's famous couch at his London home. The feather is almost a relic, providing us with an entry point not only into the life of Freud, but also into the lives of his patients; if a feather could talk… Cornelia Parker is interested in the symbolic associations carried by objects. "Sometimes I find the tiniest bit of information the most evocative," she commented in an interview for her exhibition at the Serpentine Gallery in 1998.
